Color temperature is one of the most misunderstood aspects of home lighting. The Kelvin scale describes the color of the light itself: 2700K is a warm amber-white similar to incandescent bulbs, the kind of light that reads as cozy and relaxed in a living room in the evening. 6500K is a cool blue-white similar to overcast daylight, the kind of light that promotes alertness and works well for reading, detailed work, or video calls. Most homes have fixed lighting at one point on this spectrum and accept whatever mood that creates. Dimming at 5% to 100% is more useful than it sounds at the extremes. At 5% — approximately 75 lumens — the lamp functions as a night light that preserves night vision without triggering full wakefulness, useful for navigating a dark room or winding down before sleep. At 100%, 1500 lumens provides enough light for reading and task work without relying on overhead fixtures. The memory function means the lamp returns to the last used settings when switched on, eliminating the need to re-configure settings on each use.

The articulating arm adds approximately 30 centimeters of horizontal reach beyond the base footprint, directing light precisely over a reading chair, sofa corner, or work surface rather than casting general ambient light. The arm locks firmly at any angle — no spring tension or knob to tighten. The USB-A port on the base at 5V/2.4A is fast enough to charge a phone overnight or top up during an evening reading session.
