Urban Canvas Jacket

Waxed cotton has outfitted explorers, farmers, and motorcycle riders since the 1800s because the technology is elegantly simple: a tight cotton weave saturated with paraffin-blend wax creates a barrier against rain without the sweaty impermeability of modern synthetics. The wax allows the fabric to breathe slowly, preventing the clammy feeling of full waterproof membranes during active movement. Over time, the wax develops a patina that records every crease, fold, and adventure — aging into a garment that’s uniquely yours.

The 12oz weight is the sweet spot for a city jacket: heavy enough to have structure and presence, light enough to layer over a sweater without bulk. The full quilted lining adds approximately 100g of insulation, extending the comfortable temperature range well into autumn and early spring. Brass YKK zippers on every pocket are deliberately over-specified — they’ll outlast the jacket itself and operate without snagging even when the wax ages.

Five pockets include two chest pockets deep enough for a passport, two hand pockets large enough for a standard thermal mug or gloves, and one internal pocket with a snap closure for valuables. When the wax eventually wears in the areas of most friction (elbows, cuffs), re-waxing takes twenty minutes with a hairdryer and a block of textile wax — it’s a ritual that extends the jacket’s life indefinitely.
